Wet trade Apprenticeships provides a cost-effective and intelligent solution for recruiting, employing, and training your apprentice.

How it works:

WTA will meet with you to understand your business needs and what you are looking for in a new apprentice or trainee.

We recruit at no cost to your business.

Once we have a shortlist of candidates who meet your business needs, we then coordinate an interview with you, so you can select your preferred candidate.

WTA will then coordinate all paperwork and inductions, and the apprentice or trainee can start in your business.

WTA will visit regularly to ensure your apprentice is progressing and working well in your business.

You will receive one weekly invoice which covers wages, superannuation WorkCover insurance and leave entitlements.

Your responsibilities as the host employer?

  • The host employer is responsible for the apprentice’s day to day supervision and training and has no legal status over their employment. To support the apprentice’s development and safety throughout the apprenticeship, the host employers are responsible for (among other things):
    • Providing the apprentice and other workers with a safe, hazard free working environment in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety (WH&S) regulations
    • Ensuring adequate inductions and supervision is provided and that all apprentices on the job training needs are met in accordance with the training plan
    • Ensuring on the job training is carried out in a safe manner using industry standard tools and equipment
    • Assisting WTA QLD in meeting duty of care obligations under the WHS Act
    • Immediately notifying WTA QLD of any injury, harm or disease suffered by the apprentice
    • Maintaining open communication and reporting channels with WTA QLD
